Plumerie Plus is live

You can now upgrade directly from the app — no waitlist, no form. Annual (€29.99/year) and lifetime (€79.99) options are both available. Plumerie Family Plus (€44.99/year) is live too.

What Plus unlocks:

  • Unlimited books, locations, tags, and want list
  • Unlimited Shelf Scans
  • Advanced semantic search ("shop your shelf")
  • Advanced reading stats (year-in-review, reading pace, category breakdowns)
  • Book Lab tools: Library Portrait, TBR Roast, Book Matchmaker, Mood Search
  • Priority support
  • Referral rewards — one free month for every friend who subscribes to Plus

Premium gating

Free tier limits are now enforced with on-brand upgrade prompts — never a hard block. Your data is always safe: if you downgrade, every book, note, and location stays exactly where it is. Limits revert to free-plan levels but nothing is deleted.

Subscription management

Settings → Plan shows your current plan, renewal date, and a direct link to manage or cancel via Stripe. Billing is handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card details.

Scan a Shelf

Photograph a row of book spines and Plumerie adds the matched books to your library — with covers, authors, and publication details pulled automatically from Google Books.

  • One free scan for individual accounts
  • Five shared scans for family accounts
  • Unlimited scans on Plus
  • Works from your camera or photo library
  • Review every match before adding — confirm, skip, or search manually
  • Edit location, series, edition, and notes on each book before committing
  • Scans that add zero books don't count against your limit

April 2026

Discover tab

A new Discover tab in the bottom navigation for browsing friends' libraries, seeing books in common, and finding your next borrow. The start of Plumerie's social layer.

Friend connections

Send and accept friend requests, browse each other's bookshelves with privacy controls, and see which books you both own. Want list cross-referencing shows when a friend already has a book you're looking for — borrow before you buy.

Bug fixes and refinements

Small improvements across the app based on early user feedback. Nothing flashy — just making what's already there work better.

March 2026

Multilingual metadata

Books added via ISBN scan or Google Books search now pull in the correct metadata for their edition — including titles, author names, and publisher information in the original language. Previously, searches defaulted to the English-language record regardless of the edition in hand. Finnish, French, Spanish, and German editions now resolve correctly. More languages are on the way.

Edition linking

When multiple editions of the same work exist in your library — say, a paperback and a hardcover, or a translated edition alongside the original — you can now link them together. Linked editions appear as variants on a shared book record rather than as separate unrelated entries. Useful for collectors and translators-in-progress alike.

Borrower invite flow

Lending a book to someone who isn't on Plumerie used to end at logging their name. Now you can optionally send them an invite link. If they join, the loan appears in both your libraries automatically. They can mark it returned from their end; you'll be notified. If they don't join, the loan record stays exactly as it was — no friction either way.

Location settings

You can now define named locations for your books: rooms, shelves, boxes in storage, a friend's place you keep meaning to visit. Each book can be assigned a location, and the library view can be filtered by it. Useful for collections spread across more than one physical space.

Family admin panel

Households with a shared Plumerie account can now designate an admin. The admin can manage which books are shared across the household, set borrowing rules, and see a unified view of the whole collection. Individual members keep their own want lists and reading statuses private.

February 2026

Mobile polish

A round of fixes focused on the mobile experience: smoother navigation, better tap targets, and a more reliable sign-in flow on phones.

January 2026

New name, new look

The app gets its permanent name — Plumerie — along with a new visual identity, custom domain, and a design system applied across every screen. Plume the cat makes a quiet first appearance.

December 2025

New foundation

The entire codebase moves to a new development environment. No visible changes for users, but this is what makes everything that ships afterward possible.

November 2025

Plumerie is born

The first working version of the app goes live. You can add books by scanning barcodes or searching by ISBN, organize them with tags and reading status, track locations, and share a library with your household. It's rough around the edges, but it works.
